A True Reason for Following Christ

I wrote to a young lady a few days ago regarding her husband's infidelity. She stated she thought he was a Christian. Challenging this, God gave me words and insight that make some hard sense to me. They are as follows:

A realizing of purpose, our failure to meet that purpose, our lack of means to meet that purpose, the penalty of failing to meet that purpose, and God's Provision for us to meet that purpose...is what should drive us follow Him. Any other reason falls far short and will not be sufficient to endure the life a Christian is promised to live. Once that reality has been exposed and truly grasped, there is no backing away. There can, and no doubt will be, disobedience, but there will be repentance after disobedience and this is the sign of a true Christian. John 14:23-24 is fairly clear; "23 ...If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me."-ESV

Our purpose, of course, is to glorify God. How do we glorify God? By obeying his commands.
